What to Expect
The Lab Five Dock offers a welcoming and supportive environment where young teenagers with autism can develop foundational technology skills. This unique program encourages social growth alongside hands-on learning through activities like gaming, coding, and 3D printing. Each session is participant-driven, allowing young people to engage in activities that interest them without any pressure.
The atmosphere is fun, accepting, and inspiring, making it a great place for young people to hang out and enjoy technology at their own pace. Parents are welcome to stay in the library, which provides workspaces and free WiFi, making it convenient for families.
Activity Details
Sessions run on Monday afternoons from 15:30 to 17:30 for 9 weeks during the school term, starting 27 July 2026 and ending 21 September 2026. The program is designed for participants aged 10 and above, with older teens encouraged to join The Lab Rhodes. Participants must bring their own device as no computers or iPads are provided.
Photos and videos may be taken during sessions and shared via the library and Council's communication channels. Parents should notify staff if they prefer their child not to be photographed or filmed.

The Lab Five Dock is held at Five Dock Library, a community-friendly venue easily accessible for families. The library offers a comfortable space for parents to stay during sessions, with amenities such as free WiFi and workspaces.

Booking and Prices
The full term cost is $419.40 for 9 weeks of sessions. Registration of interest is required via The Lab website at www.thelab.org.au. After registering, families will be contacted with the next steps to complete enrollment.
