Kevin Smith from The Worm Shed will guide you through the entire process, from the basics of worm farming to practical demonstrations on setting up and maintaining your own worm farm. You'll gain hands-on knowledge that you can immediately apply to reduce waste and enrich your garden.
Residents and ratepayers have the added benefit of accessing subsidies on advanced worm farm setups and worm purchases, making it easier and more affordable to start your worm farming journey.
The workshop runs for two hours, providing ample time for learning and interaction. It is designed for adults and young people aged 14 and above, ensuring the content is accessible and relevant.
Participants will see a live demonstration of setting up a worm farm and receive comprehensive instructions on maintenance. The session also covers the environmental benefits of worm farming and how it contributes to sustainable living.
To support your new hobby, the City of Swan offers a subsidy on worm farms and worms, available for purchase on the day. Pre-ordering is recommended to secure your subsidy.

Payment for worm farms or worms must be made in cash on the day of the event. Larger quantities of worms can be purchased, but subsidy limits apply.

Residents and ratepayers can take advantage of a $130 subsidy on an advanced worm farm setup or a $65 subsidy on 1kg of worms. The subsidised prices are $130 and $65 respectively.
To claim the subsidy, pre-order your worm farm when you RSVP, attend the workshop with proof of address, pay in cash, and collect your worm farm to take home.
