What to Expect
UNLEASHED is an engaging and supportive workshop series designed specifically for young people aged 15-25 who identify as having a disability. This series offers a safe space to learn about your rights at work, how to advocate for yourself, and how to leverage your lived experience to succeed in employment. Each session is peer-led, fostering a welcoming environment where you can gain practical skills and confidence.
The workshops cover essential topics such as understanding your motivations for work, navigating the workplace, building an effective resume, and mastering interview techniques. Whether you are just starting to explore employment or looking to enhance your job prospects, these workshops provide valuable insights and tools.
You are encouraged to attend all four sessions to get the full benefit, but you may also choose to attend the ones most relevant to your needs. The series is free and held at the accessible Victoria Park Community Centre.
Activity Details
The workshop series runs over four sessions from late September to early October 2026, each held from 15:00 to 18:00. The sessions include:
- Finding Your Work Why: Explore your strengths, values, and what drives you in the workplace.
- The World of Work: Learn about different types of employment and how to communicate your needs.
- Resume Building: Tailor your CV and safely disclose disability accommodations.
- Interviewing and What Happens Next: Prepare for interviews and understand employer expectations.
These interactive sessions are designed to build your skills progressively, with opportunities for practice and discussion in a low-pressure setting.
Location and Access
All workshops take place at the Victoria Park Community Centre, located at 248 Gloucester Street, East Victoria Park WA 6101. The venue is centrally located and accessible by public transport, making it easy for families and young people to attend. Parking is available nearby.
The community centre provides a welcoming and inclusive environment, ensuring participants feel comfortable and supported throughout the series. Parents and carers are welcome to inquire about accessibility and support options.
