Winter is the perfect season to slow down, get cosy, and dive into a good book. The Warm Winter Read 2026 invites Victorians aged 16 and over to build healthy reading habits while enjoying the many benefits of reading, from lifting your mood to boosting empathy and confidence.
Join thousands of fellow readers in logging your reading days from any book, in any format, at any time. Engage with a community that celebrates reading and discover new authors and genres. Plus, you can enter to win exciting prizes including book bundles, hampers, Sony headphones, and a Kobo eReader.
The campaign runs from 1 June to 31 August 2026. To participate, you must be 16 years or older, be a registered member of a Victorian public library, and complete the required book reviews or reading logs to be eligible for prizes. Winners will be drawn in the week of 28 September and notified by their library service.
This is a statewide event accessible through public libraries across Victoria. Participants can access books in various formats including physical books, ebooks, and audiobooks via library catalogues and digital collections. Warm Winter Read book review boxes and ambassadors are available at library branches to support and inspire your reading journey.
Make sure to register for the Warm Winter Read campaign to be eligible for prizes. Staff at libraries are available to help you find your next favourite read. Special events, such as the conversation with author John Morrissey at St Kilda Library on 23 July, add extra excitement for book lovers.
Participation is free. Registration is required to enter the prize draw. Bookings for special events like the author talk can be made through the library's website or directly at the library branches.
