Step into a world of story, culture, and creativity with Quandamooka artist Delvene Cockatoo-Collins. This event invites you to follow the mermaid in the bay and discover the living cultural legacy of Warrajamba, the mermaid, through engaging artistic experiences.
You and your children can get hands-on by creating your own mermaid or dugong using specially designed artist stamps. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the stories of Warrajamba and Yungong, the dugong, while exploring powerful sculptural works made from natural materials gathered from Country.
Immerse yourself in a space that celebrates care for land, sea, and story, perfect for families looking to engage with Indigenous culture in a meaningful and creative way.
This free event is suitable for all ages and requires no bookings, making it easy for families to drop in and enjoy. The activities are designed to be interactive and educational, fostering creativity and cultural appreciation.
The artist residency program supports Delvene’s exploration of Warrajamba’s story, providing a unique cultural experience that blends art with ancestral heritage. Expect a day filled with storytelling, artistic creation, and cultural discovery.
