Step into a world of story, culture, and creativity with Quandamooka artist Delvene Cockatoo-Collins. This immersive event invites families to journey alongside Delvene to the shores of Minjerribah and discover the living cultural legacy of Warrajamba, the mermaid.
Children and adults alike can get hands-on by creating their own mermaid or dugong using artist-designed stamps, connecting deeply with the stories of Warrajamba and Yungong, the dugong. The event also features powerful sculptural works made from natural materials gathered from Country, offering a unique artistic experience.
This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to engage their children in Indigenous culture and art in a welcoming and inspiring environment.
The event is free and open to all ages, making it perfect for a family outing. No bookings are required, so you can drop in at your convenience during the event hours.
The Artist in Residence program, supported by Tim Fairfax AC, brings this cultural experience to life, while the Creative Space is proudly backed by Brisbane Airport and generous local supporters.
Expect a day filled with creativity, storytelling, and meaningful connection to land and sea.
