Step into a world of story, culture, and creativity with Quandamooka artist Delvene Cockatoo-Collins, as she brings to life the ancestral tale of Warrajamba, the mermaid. This immersive event invites families to engage with living cultural legacies through hands-on activities and artistic exploration.
Children and adults alike will enjoy creating their own mermaid or dugong using specially designed artist stamps, connecting deeply with the stories of Warrajamba and Yungong, the dugong. The event also showcases Delvene’s striking sculptural works crafted from natural materials gathered from Country, including freshwater reed, beach hibiscus cotton tree, and quampie shell.
This is a unique opportunity to celebrate and learn about care for land, sea, and story in a welcoming and inspiring museum environment.
