Discover the joy of reading with the Western Australian Young Readers' Book Award, a special event designed for students up to Year 12. This children's choice award invites young readers to explore shortlisted books and vote for their favourites across four exciting categories: Picture Books, Younger Readers, Middle Grade, and Older Readers.
What to Expect
Explore engaging displays of shortlisted books at your local library, where children can vote 'terrific', 'good', 'okay', or 'not for me' for each title. The books have been selected by kids themselves, ensuring the list is full of exciting and relatable stories. If you can't find a book on display, friendly library staff are ready to help you reserve it.
Activity Details
- Voting runs through terms two and three, with final results announced in term four.
- Books eligible for nomination must be fiction, published within the last five years, currently in print, and may be by Australian or overseas authors.
