What to Expect
Navigating the t(w)een years can be challenging for any parent or carer. This engaging workshop provides a supportive space to learn about adolescent brain development and how to adapt your parenting approach as your child grows. You'll gain fresh insights into encouraging healthy risk-taking and empowering your t(w)een to build their identity with confidence.
Ideal for parents and carers of children aged 10 to 18, this session offers practical tools to help you connect and reflect on your parenting journey. Plus, enjoy a free morning tea while you engage with other participants in a warm, welcoming environment.
Spaces are limited to 10-12 participants, ensuring a personalized experience where you can share and learn effectively.
Activity Details
This free workshop runs for two hours, from 09:30 to 11:30 on Saturday, 12 September 2026. It is based on the Bringing Up Great Kids – Parenting Adolescents program, known for its practical and evidence-based approach.
Topics covered include:
- Brain development during adolescence
- Adapting your parenting style
- Supporting healthy risk-taking
- Building confidence in your t(w)een's identity
Registration is required to secure your place, and confirmation will be provided by the Cockburn Parenting Service upon completion of the registration form.
Location and Access
The workshop will be held at the Coolbellup Community Hub, located at 90 Cordelia Avenue, Coolbellup, 6163. The venue is equipped with accessible features such as accessible toilets and ACROD parking to ensure comfort for all attendees.
Additional accessibility options include in-map voice and accessible colour choice for navigation. Please ensure these features are activated if needed.
The community hub provides a friendly and convenient setting for parents to gather, learn, and support each other.
Important Information
This event is free of charge and designed specifically for parents and carers of t(w)eens aged 10 to 18 years. Due to limited spaces, early registration is highly recommended.
A free morning tea will be provided, offering a chance to relax and connect with other participants.
