Men’s Mental Health Week is a vital time to pause and reflect on the wellbeing of the men in our lives. Across Marion’s four community centres, several programs create welcoming, inclusive spaces for men to socialise, share experiences, and build meaningful connections. These programs are designed to support mental health while fostering friendship and community spirit.
You can expect relaxed, friendly gatherings where men come together over breakfast, shared activities, or creative projects. Groups like Blokes Brekky offer weekly Friday morning breakfasts with good conversation, while the Southern Nunga Men’s Group provides a culturally sensitive space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men to connect and share stories. The Men’s Shed and Community Woodwork Shed invite participants to build, create, and socialise in supportive environments.
- Blokes Brekky meets weekly on Friday mornings at Cooinda Community Centre.
- Southern Nunga Men’s Group meets fortnightly on Fridays at Trott Park Community Centre.
- Men’s Shed at Trott Park Community Centre welcomes men interested in woodworking and DIY projects.
- Community Woodwork Shed sessions are held at Glandore and Trott Park Community Centres for men and women with basic carpentry skills.
These groups emphasize social interaction, skill sharing, and mental wellbeing through hands-on activities and conversation.
- Cooinda Community Centre is located behind the Administration Centre on Sturt Road.
- Trott Park Community Centre hosts several groups including Southern Nunga Men’s Group and Men’s Shed.
- Glandore Community Centre also offers the Community Woodwork Shed.
All venues are accessible and welcoming, providing safe spaces for men to gather and participate in activities.
Please note that the Community Woodwork Shed requires participants to have basic carpentry skills and bookings are essential. The groups are self-led with a focus on independent project work. Program times may be subject to change, so it is recommended to check the latest program guide or contact the community centres for updated details.
Most groups are free or low cost community programs designed to encourage participation. Bookings are required for the Community Woodwork Shed. For more information and to book, please refer to the links provided on the City of Marion website or contact the community centres directly. Check the latest program guide for current schedules and any updates.
