What to Expect
Join a community of passionate volunteers for a rewarding morning planting native seedlings to restore biodiversity along the Sturt River-Warriparri. This event offers a wonderful opportunity for families and individuals of all ages to connect with nature and contribute to local environmental conservation.
You will receive expert guidance from a planting demonstrator to ensure your seedlings thrive. After planting, enjoy a delicious free BBQ with sausage and veggie patty options prepared by the Lions Club of Hallett Cove & Districts.
The event is family-friendly and suitable for residents, youth, seniors, and visitors alike, making it a perfect outdoor activity to celebrate World Environment Day.
Activity Details
The planting event starts at 10:00 and runs until 13:30. Volunteers will register at the Oaklands Wetland and Reserve rear carpark before walking across the river to the planting site.
All planting holes will be pre-drilled by the City of Marion, so you only need to bring small hand tools if you wish. Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes are recommended for safety and ease.
The event will only be cancelled in case of severe weather such as heavy rain, high winds, or thunderstorms. Light showers will not affect the planting.
Location and Access
The planting takes place at Sturt River-Warriparri, adjacent to Warradale Barracks, accessed via Oaklands Wetland and Reserve on Oaklands Road, postcode 5046.
Parking and registration are at the Oaklands Wetland and Reserve rear carpark. The site is accessible for families and individuals and offers a scenic natural environment to enjoy while volunteering.

Important Information
Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes to ensure comfort and safety during planting.
Bring your own small hand trowel, gardening gloves, and a knee board if desired. Long-handled or power tools are not permitted as holes are pre-drilled.
Volunteers will be emailed in advance if the event is postponed or cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.
