Dive into the world of writing with the Young Writers Club, a vibrant community where teens aged 13 to 17 can explore fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and more. Each session is designed to spark creativity through engaging activities and discussions led by hosts from diverse creative backgrounds.
Participants will have the chance to share their stories, receive feedback, and grow their writing skills in a supportive and fun environment. The club nurtures all types of writing, encouraging young writers to find their unique voice.
Enjoy brain food snacks provided by Cockburn Youth Services to keep the creative juices flowing during the sessions.
The club meets fortnightly on Thursdays from 16:30 to 18:00 at Success Library. The last 30 minutes of each session are dedicated to free writing and feedback, allowing participants to apply what they've learned and receive constructive critiques.
This term features special guests including Lauren Butcher, Em Readman, Heather Waugh, Nina Dakin, Bianca Breen, and Cristy Burne, each bringing unique expertise in writing, illustrating, and storytelling.
Bookings are preferred to ensure a spot in this popular club designed specifically for teenagers passionate about writing.
Sessions take place at Success Library, located at Unit 1, 11 Wentworth Parade, Success, WA 6164. The venue offers accessible toilets, accessible parking (ACROD), free parking, and public toilets.
The library is equipped with accessibility features such as in-map voice and accessible colour choices to accommodate all participants.
This welcoming location provides a comfortable and supportive space for young writers to gather and create.
The club is open to young people aged 13 to 17 years. Participants should bring a pen, paper, or a digital device for writing activities.
Snacks are provided to keep energy levels high, making it easier for teens to focus and enjoy the sessions.

Attendance is free of charge, making it an accessible opportunity for all interested young writers.
