Youth Homelessness Matters Day is a heartfelt gathering dedicated to centering the voices of young people with lived and living experience of homelessness. This event aims to raise awareness, spark meaningful conversations, and celebrate the resilience of young people in our community. Every young person deserves a safe and stable place to call home, and this day invites everyone to stand alongside them in solidarity.
Join a powerful and engaging program featuring screenings of impactful documentaries including the 16-minute short film "A Place To Call Home" and the one-hour documentary "Sold! Who Broke the Australian Dream?" which offers a humorous yet factual look at Australia's housing crisis and potential solutions. You will also hear personal reflections from young people, participate in creative and interactive activities, enjoy live music, and share a free lunch. Free haircuts will be available for young people aged 12 to 25.
This event is open to all community members including young people, youth workers, and allies who care about youth homelessness. The day is designed to foster connection, conversation, and action through:
