What to Expect

Children will participate in animal-themed activities and meet dedicated keepers who care for the zoo's wildlife. The day includes exclusive behind-the-scenes experiences in education spaces, presentations, and visits to areas like Backyard to Bush farm. Adventurers will explore diverse animal habitats, from iconic Australian species to the African Savannah.

Activity Details

The program runs Monday to Friday during school holidays, starting at 08:30 and finishing at 15:30, lasting seven hours each day. It is designed for primary school children aged 5 to 11 and requires a moderate level of fitness and good mobility. The program proceeds in all weather conditions and includes safety measures to protect guests, staff, and animals.

Location and Access

The program takes place at Taronga Zoo Sydney. Parents are not permitted to accompany children during the activities and must purchase separate zoo entry if they wish to explore independently. The zoo is accessible and provides a rich environment for learning and adventure.

Important Information

Children must wear enclosed footwear and bring a backpack with a packed lunch, snacks, a refillable water bottle, hat, sunscreen, and wet weather gear. A Zoo Adventures t-shirt must be worn for easy identification. The program has strict booking conditions including health and safety protocols, behavior expectations, and allergy disclosures. It is not held on public holidays and activities may change due to weather or other circumstances.

Booking and Prices

The cost is $75 per child, with an optional $15 fee for the Zoo Adventures t-shirt. Winter school holiday bookings open at the beginning of June.
