What to Expect
This engaging workshop is perfect for children who can already ride independently but want to improve their cycling skills and confidence. Experienced instructors will guide participants through essential skills such as starting and stopping safely, including sudden braking, and riding on different surfaces and footpaths.
Children will also learn important safety techniques like signalling, looking behind while riding, maintaining safe distances, and riding in a line. The session concludes with a supervised group ride along footpaths and shared paths around Brush Farm Park, offering a practical and enjoyable experience.
This activity is tailored for kids aged 7 to 12 years who have basic bike handling skills and can pedal independently.
Activity Details
The workshop is led by supportive instructors who focus on building confidence and safety awareness in young cyclists. Participants should bring a roadworthy bike with working brakes and a correctly fitting helmet.
Children are encouraged to wear weather-appropriate clothing and bring a positive, adventurous spirit. The session runs from 12:45 PM registration to 2:45 PM, with the main activity starting at 1:00 PM.
The meeting point is the Brush Farm Netball Courts, where parents or guardians must be present during the session to ensure safety and support.

The event takes place at Brush Farm Park, Lawson Street, Eastwood, NSW 2122. This accessible venue offers safe footpaths and shared paths ideal for young cyclists to practice their skills.
Parents can easily access the park, and there is ample space for parking and supervision. The location is well-suited for families looking for a convenient and safe outdoor activity.
Important Information
Registrations are essential and must be made via the Bookable platform, with spaces limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents must communicate any medical, physical, intellectual, social, or emotional considerations before participation.
A responsible parent or guardian must remain on-site throughout the session. Participants may be photographed for promotional purposes by the City of Ryde.
If unable to attend, cancellations must be made promptly via Bookable to avoid penalties. The program is free for City of Ryde residents; a $5 fee applies for non-residents.
