What to Expect
Is your child ready to learn to ride with confidence? This engaging workshop is designed to help young kids and their grown-ups navigate the exciting transition to pedals and independent riding. Led by experienced instructors, the session creates a relaxed and encouraging environment where children develop balance, coordination, and the skills to start pedalling.
Training wheels and pedals will be removed at the start, with bikes set up specifically for learning. Pedals will only be reattached when the child is ready, and many participants will be pedalling by the end of the session.
All abilities are welcome. Younger children may find the full session a bit long, and leaving early is absolutely fine. Every child will leave empowered with knowledge and strategies to keep practicing confidently at their own pace.
Activity Details
This collaborative workshop requires parent participation. Parents and carers will learn how to support their child's riding journey, including what to practice, how to identify readiness for pedals, and bike setup for success. A responsible adult must be present on-site during the session.
Participants should bring a roadworthy bike with working brakes, a correctly fitting helmet, weather-appropriate clothing, and a can-do attitude. Children must be able to touch the ground flat-footed while seated on their bike. A slightly smaller bike is better than one that is too big for learning.
The session runs from 10:00 to 12:00 with registration starting at 9:45 AM. Spaces are limited and bookings are essential, with cancellations required if unable to attend.
