What to Expect
Celebrate World Environment Day with an exciting Children's Riverway Workshop designed to inspire young eco-explorers. Through music, hands-on activities, creative experiments, and outdoor exploration, children will discover how healthy rivers support wildlife, communities, and the planet.
Participants will learn about the journey of rainwater into rivers, the impact of rubbish on waterways, and the important role of oysters in filtering water. The workshop culminates in a fun pedal-powered slushie-making activity at the Bike & Blend station, combining environmental education with active play.
This engaging experience sparks curiosity, science learning, and environmental care, perfect for children who love nature and hands-on activities.
Activity Details
The workshop is led by Kelly Winnings and includes a 45-minute session followed by the Bike & Blend activity. There are four sessions available on Sunday, 14 June 2026, starting at 10:00 and running hourly until 14:00.
Each session involves interactive learning about river ecosystems and practical ways children can help keep waterways clean and healthy. The Bike & Blend station offers a unique pedal-powered experience to make a refreshing slushie, encouraging physical activity alongside environmental awareness.
Children should bring a reusable cup or can get one on the day. The event is suitable for school-aged children and encourages parental supervision for those under 13.
