Alchemy of a Rainforest
Immerse yourself in a sensory exhibition showcasing rare tropical and subtropical rainforest plants at The Calyx, Royal Botanic Garden Sydney.
Step inside a vibrant tapestry of life with Alchemy of a Rainforest, an immersive exhibition that brings the lush complexity of tropical and subtropical rainforests to Sydney. This unique experience blends nature's brilliance with human creativity, inviting visitors to explore an extraordinary living ecosystem.
What to Expect
As you enter, you'll be captivated by a shimmering canopy reimagined with recycled materials by ERTH, creating an undulating forest ceiling. Wander through the space surrounded by over 18,000 plants and one of the Southern Hemisphere's largest living green walls. Environmental artist Jane Gillings contributes garden sculptures made from repurposed plastic waste, depicting seeds, flowers, fungi, and butterflies, highlighting the rainforest’s ecological importance.
A standout feature is the oversized Satin Bowerbird’s bower installation, crafted from upcycled materials. Visitors can walk through and sit inside while enjoying rainforest sound art that transports you to a tropical forest alive with sound and color.
