ANZAC Day 2026 offers a meaningful opportunity for families to come together and honour the bravery and sacrifice of those who served and continue to serve our country. This event is perfect for parents wanting to share important history with their school-aged children in an engaging way.
Starting with a guided walking tour at 1pm, led by the History and Heritage team, you will explore Caulfield Park’s war memorials and hear stories from the Homefront during wartime. This is a wonderful way to connect children with local history and the significance of ANZAC Day.
At 2pm, the community gathers at the Cenotaph for a commemorative ceremony. This solemn event provides a respectful space to remember and pay tribute to the service and sacrifice of Australian veterans.
The walking tour begins promptly at 13:00 and lasts approximately one hour, offering an educational and reflective experience suitable for families. Bookings are recommended to secure a place on the tour.
Following the tour, the ceremony at 14:00 invites attendees to participate in wreath laying and moments of remembrance. This part of the event is open to all and is a key highlight of the day.
The event is free to attend and designed to be accessible and welcoming to all ages, making it an ideal outing for parents and children to learn and reflect together.
The event takes place at Caulfield Park Cenotaph, located at the corner of Balaclava and Hawthorn Roads, Caulfield. The park is easily accessible by car and public transport, with ample parking nearby.
Families are encouraged to arrive early to find suitable seating or standing spots for the ceremony. The walking tour starts within the park, making it convenient to transition between activities.
Facilities including restrooms and seating areas are available within Caulfield Park, ensuring a comfortable visit for families with children.
Bookings are recommended for the 1pm walking tour to manage group sizes and ensure a quality experience. The ceremony at 2pm does not require booking and is open to all.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing, as the tour involves outdoor walking.
The event is a respectful occasion; parents are encouraged to prepare children for the reflective nature of the ceremony.
The ANZAC Day event is free to attend. To book the walking tour, please contact the organisers via email at arts@gleneira.vic.gov.au.
Early booking is advised due to limited spaces on the walking tour. There is no cost for the ceremony, and all community members are welcome to attend.
