Anzac Day in Fremantle is a solemn and meaningful occasion where families and community members come together to remember the brave Australian soldiers and sailors who served overseas. This event offers a chance to reflect on our shared history and pay tribute in a respectful and inclusive environment.
What to Expect
The day begins with a dawn service at 5:50am at the Fremantle War Memorial on Monument Hill, a poignant moment to honour those who departed our shores. Following this, a morning service will be held at 9:00am at the Fallen Soldiers War Memorial on Queen Victoria Street. At 10:15am, the traditional Anzac Day March steps off from Pioneer Park, allowing the community to participate in a moving tribute. Additionally, a poppy installation and workshop will be available from 9:30am at Walyalup Koort, offering a creative and reflective activity for families.

The dawn service will be live streamed for those unable to attend in person, with the link provided on the City of Fremantle website.
Location and Access
The main activities take place at Monument Hill, North Fremantle, and around Fremantle city. Road closures will be in effect from approximately 9:30am to 11:30am to ensure safety during the march, including full closures on Market St, South Terrace, Short St, Bannister St, William St, and Queen Victoria St, as well as partial closures on Collie St, Essex St, and Cantonment St.
Designated free parking is available until 12:00pm at Beach Street Carparks (CP12A & CP12B) and John Curtin College carpark at 90 Ellen Street. Additional free parking citywide is available until 8:00am. A free shuttle bus service runs between Fremantle Train Station, Beach Street Carparks, John Curtin College carpark, and Monument Hill during early morning hours.
Important Information
Accessibility is a priority with AUSLAN interpreters at both Fremantle and North Fremantle services. ACROD parking and mobility assistance are available at Monument Hill and along the march route. Attendees are encouraged to speak with event staff upon arrival for support. The City of Fremantle respectfully acknowledges the Whadjuk people as the Traditional Owners of the area and honours their cultural heritage.
Booking and Prices
This is a free community event open to all. No bookings are required. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early due to limited parking and road closures. Public transport and carpooling are recommended to ease congestion on the day.
