Discover the joy of creative expression with your toddler in this engaging Drawing & Mark Making workshop led by local artist Thao La. This session invites toddlers and their carers to explore movement, gesture, and self-expression through playful mark-making activities designed to inspire confidence and creativity.
Children will experiment with various tools such as crayons, bundled pencils, chalk, and even pebbles dipped in paint to create unique marks and lines. The workshop encourages sensory exploration and free-form drawing, supporting early artistic development.
This is a wonderful opportunity for parents and carers to connect with their children through art, fostering a shared creative experience that nurtures both fine and gross motor skills.
The workshop includes two main activities: Mark Making Exploration, where children use different tools on individual paper to experiment with lines and shapes, and Big Drawing Together, a collaborative drawing on a large shared surface involving tracing hands, arms, and body outlines.
These activities promote movement, collaboration, spatial awareness, and confidence in self-expression. The session is suitable for children aged 1 to 4 years and encourages active participation from both child and carer.
Expect a relaxed, supportive environment where creativity and experimentation are celebrated, making it perfect for young children to develop their artistic abilities.
The workshop takes place at Fairfield City Museum & Gallery, located at 634 The Horsley Drive, Smithfield, NSW 2164. Entry is via Oxford Street.
The museum is accessible and offers a welcoming space for families to engage in creative activities. Public transport options and parking are available nearby, making it convenient for local families.
Opening hours for the museum are Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 4pm, and Saturday from 10am to 3pm. The workshop is scheduled during these hours for easy access.
This workshop is designed specifically for toddlers aged 1 to 4 years and their carers, emphasizing shared creative play and connection.
Participants should wear comfortable clothing suitable for art activities, as mark-making can be messy and fun.

The workshop costs $11.37 per child and requires advance registration through Eventbrite to secure a place.
