Activity Details
Registrations open on Monday, 30 March 2026 at 12:00 and close on Monday, 4 May 2026 at 23:59. The secret theme will be revealed on Friday, 8 May 2026 at 16:00, kicking off the 24-hour creation period from 16:00 on 8 May to 16:00 on 9 May. Visual artworks must be dropped off at Kingston Arts Centre on Saturday, 9 May between 12:00 and 16:00, while creative writing and poetry submissions are due online by 16:00 the same day.
The competition is divided into three age groups: juniors (12 and under), youth (13 to 17), and adults (18 and over), with separate categories for 2D and 3D visual arts, creative writing, and poetry. Prizes include cash awards, vouchers, and development opportunities such as mentorships and artist residencies.
Location and Access
The event is based at Kingston Arts Centre, located at 979 Nepean Highway, Moorabbin, VIC 3189. This accessible venue is well-served by public transport and encourages walking or cycling to reduce environmental impact. The final exhibition and awards ceremony will take place at Kingston City Hall and the Kingston Arts Centre galleries, providing a welcoming space for families to celebrate creativity.
Important Information
Participation is free but requires registration. Only one entry per person per category is allowed. All submissions must comply with size and format guidelines detailed in the entry instructions emailed after registration closes. The secret theme will be communicated via email and the official website. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Wednesday, 27 May 2026 at 18:30, with the exhibition running until 20 June 2026.
Artwork pick-up is scheduled for Monday, 22 June and Tuesday, 23 June from 10:00 to 19:00 at Kingston Arts Centre. For those unable to attend the ceremony, winners will be notified by email, and prizes can be arranged for alternative delivery.
