Discover how fire can be a powerful tool to support healthy bushland and create safer properties in this engaging half-day workshop. Perfect for peri-urban and rural landholders, the session blends classroom learning with hands-on experience in the field.
You will explore bushfire safety, preparedness, and fire ecology through interactive talks and a guided bushwalk, gaining real-world insights into managing your land effectively.
This workshop is designed to help you understand fire’s role in your environment and empower you to make informed decisions about fire management on your property.
The workshop includes a classroom session covering essential topics such as bushfire safety, preparedness, and fire ecology. Following this, participants will enjoy an interactive bushwalk where they will see practical examples in the landscape.
You will learn to assess the health of your local environment, identify vegetation types and key habitats, understand fuel loads and fire history, monitor vegetation and wildlife, and become familiar with relevant regulations.
Please come prepared with closed-in shoes, long pants and sleeves, a reusable water bottle, hat, sunscreen, and a rain jacket if needed. Catering and supporting materials are provided.
The event takes place at 820 Perseverance Dam Rd, Cressbrook Creek QLD 4355, a beautiful natural setting ideal for exploring fire ecology firsthand.
This location is accessible by car, and ample parking is available on-site. The venue offers a safe and supportive environment for learning and outdoor activities.
