Step into the fascinating world of blacksmithing with this beginner workshop designed for those eager to learn a traditional craft. Under the expert guidance of Terry Drennan, an Australian Champion blacksmith, participants will gain hands-on experience in creating essential blacksmithing tools and mastering foundational skills.
This full-day workshop offers a unique opportunity to work in a custom-built blacksmithing shop. You'll learn to operate a forge and use various tools and an anvil to craft your own cold chisel, hot cutter, round punch, centre punch, and tongs. The session is tailored to beginners, ensuring a supportive environment with limited participants for personalized assistance.
The workshop runs from 08:30 to 16:00 and is suitable for individuals aged 16 and over. Participants are required to wear closed-in boots or steel-capped shoes, long pants, and long sleeves for safety. Spectators are welcome to observe the process. Completing this workshop also qualifies you for advanced blacksmithing courses.
