Discover a wide range of authentic, original, and affordable Aboriginal art, crafts, fashion, jewellery, and homewares. This event offers a unique opportunity to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, with 100% of profits going back to them.
Throughout the day, enjoy traditional dance and singing performances, sample delicious bush food from the barbecue, and participate in communal weaving, dance, and storytelling workshops. The Blak Markets open at 10:00 and close at 15:00. The program includes:
- 10:30: Welcome to Country by Aunty Barb, opening speech by Dylan Parker, and a Smoking Ceremony
- 10:40 & 13:00: Traditional Dance Performances by Gawura Cultural Immersions
- 11:00 to 14:30: Free Weaving Workshop by Wiradjuri Wave
- 11:15 to 11:45 & 13:30 to 14:00: Singing Performances by Mi-Kaisha
- 12:00 to 13:00: Children’s Storytelling and Dance Workshop
These activities provide a rich cultural experience that is both educational and entertaining for children and adults alike.
The event is held at the La Perouse Museum, located at 1542 Anzac Parade, La Perouse. The museum setting offers a scenic and culturally significant backdrop for the markets.
