What to Expect
Celebrate the joy of Children’s Book Week with a hands-on, creative workshop designed for children aged 5-12. This exciting event encourages kids to transform everyday recycled materials into unique musical instruments, fostering creativity and environmental awareness.
Under the guidance of music expert Tito Espinosa, children will come together to form a Junk Orchestra, exploring sound, rhythm, and movement. They will learn how to use their instruments to tell stories, create moods, and bring songs to life, making this a fun and educational experience.
This workshop blends creativity, learning, and performance, providing a perfect opportunity for children to express themselves musically and engage with storytelling in a new and exciting way.
Activity Details
The workshop runs for one hour, from 16:00 to 17:00 on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, at Oatley Library. All materials and equipment are provided, so children only need to bring their enthusiasm and any recycled musical instruments they may have.
This session is part of two workshops celebrating the Symphony of Stories during Book Week. Please note that tickets are required and booking one session does not guarantee a place in the other.
Parents or guardians must remain in the library during the program for children aged 12 and under, and contact details must be provided for participants under 16 years old. Late arrivals may lose their place to those on the standby list.
