Make this your year to volunteer and explore a wide variety of ways to contribute to your community at the annual Volunteer Expo. Whether you are new to volunteering or experienced, there are roles suited for all ages, skills, and interests. Entry is free, and you can register to receive event updates, meet organisations, and win door prizes.
Arrive early from 12:00 to 13:00 for a special Q&A session with Australian actress Pia Miranda, who will share her experiences supporting local communities through volunteering. From 13:00 to 17:00, you can speak with representatives from over 40 local not-for-profit and community groups to find a volunteer role that fits your schedule and passions.
Roles range from maintaining local parks and green spaces to supporting vulnerable community members and engaging in projects related to your studies or interests. Organisations span sectors such as aged care, disability and health services, rotary clubs, mentoring and tutoring, environment and sustainability, recreation, and more.
The expo is designed to connect you with meaningful volunteer opportunities that make a real impact. You will have the chance to ask questions, learn about different organisations, and discover how volunteering can fit flexibly into your life.
A post-expo online information session will be held on Tuesday 24 March 2026, facilitated by Volunteering Victoria. This workshop will cover volunteers' rights and responsibilities and effective communication with supervisors, ideal for those considering or already volunteering.
Volunteering offers benefits such as gaining new skills, making a positive community impact, and meeting new people. The event encourages flexible, short or long-term commitments to suit your lifestyle.
The Volunteer Expo takes place at the Hawthorn Arts Centre, located at 360 Burwood Road, Hawthorn VIC 3122. The venue is fully accessible, featuring accessible car parking, toilets, ramps, lifts, clear signage, wide passageways, and a dedicated quiet room.
Sensory considerations include bright lights, background music, people talking, echo, large crowds, shared personal space, colourful signs and banners, and digital screens. Attendees are encouraged to notify organisers of any accessibility needs when registering.
For a quieter visit, it is recommended to attend between 16:00 and 17:00 when the expo is less busy.
Please register in advance to receive updates and information about participating organisations and door prizes. Let the organisers know if you have any accessibility requirements or need support to fully enjoy the event.
The expo is free to attend and suitable for people of all ages and backgrounds interested in volunteering. The post-expo online workshop on 24 March is also free but requires separate registration.
Volunteering is a rewarding way to contribute to your community, develop new skills, and connect with others. This event is a perfect starting point to find your ideal volunteer role.
Entry to the Volunteer Expo is free. Registration is recommended to receive event updates and door prize information.
The post-expo online workshop, "What to Expect When Volunteering," held on 24 March 2026 at 10:00, is also free but requires separate registration.
