What to Expect
Get ready to roll up your sleeves and make a real difference in your local environment. These working bees offer a wonderful opportunity for families to engage with nature and help protect biodiversity in the beautiful Jack Ritchie Track Bushland Reserve.
Volunteers of all experience levels are welcome, as friendly support staff provide guidance, training, and all necessary tools and equipment. It’s a hands-on way to teach children about environmental stewardship while enjoying fresh air and community spirit.
Please come prepared with sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants, long sleeves, a hat, and a water bottle to stay comfortable and safe during the activities.
Activity Details
The working bees run from 09:00 to 11:00 on the first Friday of each month, with upcoming dates including April, May, and June 2026.
Activities typically involve bushland care such as weeding, planting, and general maintenance to support local wildlife habitats.
These sessions are family-friendly and provide a great way to spend a morning outdoors, learning about local flora and fauna while contributing to conservation efforts.
Location and Access
Meet at Jack Ritchie Track Bushland Reserve, 51 Dana Avenue, Blairgowrie, 3942. Please confirm the exact meeting location before attending, as it may change for each working bee.
The reserve is accessible by car, and parking is available nearby. It’s a lovely natural setting perfect for a morning of community volunteering.
Important Information
Working bees may be cancelled or rescheduled at short notice due to extreme weather, Total Fire Ban days, or public holidays.
Wear appropriate clothing for outdoor work including sturdy shoes, long pants, and sun protection.
Bring your own water bottle to stay hydrated during the session.
