What to Expect
Immerse yourself in nature and make a real difference by volunteering in the bushcare program at Long Bay. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to connect with the environment and learn about local indigenous plants and ecosystems.
You will work alongside the Council's Bushcare Officer to help regenerate the bushland, focusing on removing invasive weeds and planting native species that thrive in coastal conditions.
This hands-on experience is perfect for parents and children who enjoy outdoor activities and want to contribute to preserving an endangered ecological community.
Activity Details
The program runs monthly on the first Tuesday from 09:00 to 12:00, continuing until 1 December 2026. Volunteers will target weeds such as Salpichroa and Acetosa and assist with planting along the foreshore.
The site is located on the southern section of Long Bay, an area known for its endangered Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub (ESBS).
No prior experience is necessary, and all ages are welcome to participate in this rewarding environmental activity.
