What to Expect
Step into a world of musical storytelling with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra's enchanting performance of Carnival of the Animals. This delightful concert introduces children aged 12 and up to the captivating sounds of the orchestra, featuring playful animal-inspired music that sparks imagination and joy.
Alongside Saint-Saëns’ classic, enjoy Alex Turley’s Animalia, which weaves the unique sounds of Australian wildlife into a magical companion piece. The performance promises a vibrant and engaging experience for the whole family.
A special relaxed performance at 12:30pm caters to audiences with autism or sensory sensitivities, offering a smaller audience, adjusted lighting, and a welcoming environment for all.
Activity Details
The concert runs for approximately 60 minutes and is suitable for children aged 12 years and older. Two performances are available on Saturday, 12 September 2026: a standard show at 10:00 and a relaxed performance at 12:30.
Tickets are priced at $47 plus a booking fee, with seating in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House. The event is presented by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Benjamin Northey.
Please note that children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult at all times, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for families.
Location and Access
The event takes place in the Concert Hall at the iconic Sydney Opera House, located at Bennelong Point, Sydney NSW 2000.
The venue is accessible by public transport including bus, train, ferry, and light rail, with a 7-10 minute walk from Circular Quay. Parking is available at the Sydney Opera House Car Park with discounted options if booked ahead.
All foyers are pram accessible with lifts available, and pram parking is provided in the Western Foyer. The Concert Hall is situated beneath the largest roof sail and is best accessed through the covered concourse.
Important Information
Relaxed performances offer an open-door policy allowing movement in and out of the venue and provide quiet, low sensory spaces in the foyer. A social story is available in advance to help prepare attendees.
Security includes bag scanning and cloaking facilities, with recommendations to travel lightly for convenience. Latecomers will be seated at suitable breaks to minimize disruption.
Only tickets purchased through authorised agencies, including the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Symphony Orchestra, are valid. Resale tickets from unauthorised sellers may be invalid.

Tickets go on general sale from 10:00am Monday, 10 November 2025, with pre-sales available for Sydney Opera House Insiders and newsletter subscribers.
Standard ticket price is $47 plus an $8.95 booking fee per transaction. Exact prices will be displayed during seat selection.
