The event kicks off with pre-show entertainment at 18:30, followed by the main Carols show from 19:30 to 21:30. Highlights include performances by Bobby Fox, a celebrated Australian actor and singer, Jazmin Varlet, a local talent and The Voice Australia finalist, and Jordan-Ravi, a soulful young singer-songwriter. The Australian Children's Choir and Diamond Valley Brass Band provide classic carols and festive tunes.
Families can enjoy the lively atmosphere while singing along with the provided songbook and lighting LED candles. The Kazoos bring a high-energy Christmas show that delights children, featuring interactive moments and a surprise visit from Santa Claus.
Location and Access
Ivanhoe Park, located on Lower Heidelberg Road in Ivanhoe, provides a spacious outdoor setting ideal for families to picnic and enjoy the evening. The event site is on an oval with some slope, but flatter seating areas are available near The Boulevard and Wamba Road sides for easier access.
Accessibility is a priority, with one accessible toilet on site and noise-cancelling headphones available for loan. Auslan interpreters will be present during the main show to support those with hearing impairments. Please note that parking and traffic restrictions apply due to nearby Christmas light displays, so plan your arrival accordingly.
Important Information
This event is free to attend and suitable for all ages, especially families with children. To enhance participation, a social story describing the event experience is provided, helping children and adults know what to expect. Road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect from 19:00 to 23:00 nightly on The Boulevard and surrounding streets from December 14 to 24.
Bring blankets or chairs for seating and dress warmly as the event takes place outdoors in the evening. LED candles will be provided to add to the festive ambiance. Remember to arrive early to enjoy the food trucks and pre-show entertainment.
Booking and Prices
There is no cost to attend Carols by Candlelight 2019. No booking is required; simply come along with your family and friends to enjoy this wonderful community celebration. Food and drinks are available for purchase from onsite vendors.
