What to Expect
This engaging ceramics course is perfect for beginners eager to explore the art of clay. Over eight weeks, you will develop skills in wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques, creating functional and beautiful ceramic pieces.
You will learn essential methods such as pressing, coiling, and slab building, as well as how to apply slips, glazes, and other surface treatments to your work. The small class size ensures personalized guidance from an expert tutor.
This course is designed for adults aged 16 and over, making it a wonderful creative outlet for parents looking to try something new.
Activity Details
The course runs on Mondays from 10:00 to 12:30, starting on April 20, 2026, and continuing for eight weeks with sessions on May 4, 11, 18, 25, June 1, 15, and 22.
Your ceramic works will be fired and ready for collection about four weeks after the course ends. Please note that only pieces made during the course can be fired.
Class size is limited to 10 students to maintain an intimate learning environment. Comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes are recommended, and you should bring your own apron and towel.

Important Information
This course is for beginners aged 16 years and older. Please wear comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes, preferably trousers, for safety and ease of movement.
Bring your own apron and towel to keep clean during the sessions. The tutor will provide all necessary clay and tools.
Bookings can be cancelled up to seven days before the course start date for a refund. After this period, cancellations are non-refundable.

The full price for the 8-week course is $500, with a concession price of $400 available to valid concession card holders.
