If you love playing chess or want to improve your skills, this weekly Chess Club is the perfect place to meet like-minded adults. Whether you're a beginner familiar with the basic moves or more experienced, you'll find a welcoming environment to enjoy the game. Chess boards are provided at each session, so just bring your enthusiasm.
The club encourages social interaction and strategic thinking in a relaxed setting. It's a great way to spend your Thursday afternoons, challenge your mind, and connect with others who share your passion.
This activity is designed for adults who already know the basics of chess, so you can dive straight into the fun and competition.
The Chess Club meets every Thursday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, starting on 8 January 2026 and running until 17 December 2026. Sessions will not be held on public holidays. Please note that if you miss three or more consecutive weeks without notifying staff, you may forfeit your booking.
Attendance requires registration, which opens on 11 December 2025 at 9:30 am. You only need to register once to attend all weekly sessions throughout the year. The event is free for Library members, and membership is free and easy to obtain.
Participants are encouraged to arrive 10 minutes early to ensure the sessions start on time. Latecomers may not be admitted to maintain a smooth experience for all attendees.

This event is free for Randwick City Library members. Library membership is free and can be obtained online or at any branch.
