Confined 17 offers a powerful and moving exhibition dedicated to First Nations people sharing their stories, culture, and lived experiences through visual art. This event highlights the disproportionate representation of Indigenous Australians in the criminal justice system and the urgent need for change.
Visitors will experience a collection of artworks created by participants in The Torch’s Indigenous Arts in Prisons and Community program. The exhibition provides insight into the cultural, social, emotional, and financial wellbeing of the artists, fostering understanding and connection. Each artwork is for sale, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the artist.
The exhibition runs on Sunday, 31 May 2026, from 13:00 to 17:00. It is a key public showcase of The Torch’s annual Confined program, which aims to reduce re-offending rates by empowering Indigenous participants through art. This event is suitable for families and anyone interested in cultural heritage and social justice.
Confined 17 is held at the Glen Eira City Council Gallery, located at the corner of Glen Eira and Hawthorn Roads, Caulfield. The venue is accessible and situated within easy reach of public transport and parking facilities, making it convenient for families and visitors.
Please note that this exhibition is a respectful space dedicated to Indigenous voices and experiences. Visitors are encouraged to engage thoughtfully with the artworks and stories presented. The event is free to attend, and all ages are welcome. Support for cultural connection and community wellbeing is central to this program.
Attendance is free, and no prior booking is required. Artworks displayed are available for purchase, with all sales directly benefiting the artists. For more information, contact Glen Eira City Council via email or phone.
