Create and Connect: Home School Edition offers a welcoming and inspiring space for homeschooled children aged 4 to 8 to explore art and creativity. Each session begins with a guided gallery exploration where children engage with artworks through storytelling, conversation, and observation. This encourages confidence in sharing ideas and strengthens visual literacy.
Following the gallery time, children move to the studio to experiment with various materials and techniques, creating their own artworks inspired by the gallery experience. Activities are thoughtfully designed to support fine motor skills, problem-solving, and self-expression in a nurturing group environment.
This program complements home education by fostering curiosity, creative thinking, and social connection, making it a valuable opportunity for collaborative learning and artistic growth.
This monthly workshop takes place on the first Thursday of each month, running from 10:00 to 11:30 in the morning. The session is suitable for children aged 4 to 8 and is priced at $16 per child. Each workshop includes gallery exploration and hands-on art making.
The activities are tailored to support early creative skills and encourage children to express themselves through art while developing important observational and cognitive abilities. Parents can expect their children to enjoy a structured yet playful environment that nurtures both creativity and confidence.
The workshops are held at Hazelhurst Arts Centre, located at 782 Kingsway, Gymea NSW. The centre is accessible and welcoming, with ample parking and public transport options nearby. Hazelhurst also offers a gallery and shop open daily from 10:00 to 16:00, and the arts centre itself has extended hours Monday to Thursday.
Families can enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Hazelhurst grounds, making it a pleasant outing beyond the workshop itself. The venue is well-equipped to support children’s activities and provides a safe, friendly environment for learning and creativity.
Please note Hazelhurst will be closed for the Easter holiday period from Friday 3 April to Monday 6 April, with regular hours resuming Tuesday 7 April. The workshop on Thursday 2 April 2026 will proceed as scheduled.
Bookings are essential due to limited spaces, ensuring a supportive group size for each child. The program encourages social interaction while respecting individual learning paces and styles.
Parents are encouraged to contact Hazelhurst for any questions or special requirements to ensure the best experience for their child.
The cost for each session is $16 per child. Bookings can be made in advance to secure a spot for the monthly workshop. Payment details and booking links are available through Hazelhurst Arts Centre.
Early booking is recommended as spaces fill quickly. For more information or to book, parents can contact Hazelhurst directly via email or phone.
This affordable program offers excellent value for a creative, educational experience tailored to homeschooled children.
