What to Expect
Spend an unforgettable night at the Australian Museum where curious minds aged 6 to 12 and their grown-ups can explore the museum after hours. This unique sleepover includes a delicious dinner, a thrilling torchlight tour, and a cozy movie screening in the Theatre. Children will sleep in one of the museum’s oldest galleries, surrounded by fascinating exhibits.

Activity Details
The program runs from 6pm to 8:30am on two dates: 15-16 May and 18-19 September 2026. The schedule includes:
- 6:00pm arrival
- 6:15pm to 7:00pm dinner
- 7:00pm to 8:45pm guided torchlight tour
- 8:45pm to 11:00pm movie in the Theatre
- 6:15am to 7:15am breakfast
- 7:15am to 8:15am access to the Bloodsuckers: Nature's Vampires exhibition
- 8:30am departure
Children must be accompanied by an adult with a minimum ratio of one adult to three children. Sleeping arrangements are in either the Dinosaurs or Wild Planet galleries. Guests should bring a sleeping bag, pillow, pyjamas, toiletries, and a torch.
Location and Access
The Australian Museum is located at the corner of College Street and William Street in central Sydney, opposite St Mary’s Cathedral and near Hyde Park. Public transport options include bus and train, and there is a special discounted overnight parking rate of $15 at 70 Riley Street Wilson Carpark for DinoSnore guests.
Parking must be pre-booked online using the promo code DINOSNORE. The museum itself does not have onsite parking. The venue is easily accessible and family-friendly, making it convenient for parents and children to attend.
Important Information
Guests should bring their own sleeping bag and pillow; a single camping mattress is provided. There are no shower facilities, so toiletries should be minimal. Personal valuables should be kept on the person as there are no lockers.
Alcohol is not permitted, and guests are asked not to bring outside food except water bottles or snacks for specific dietary needs. Adult supervision is required at all times, including overnight. USB charging stations will be available during dinner and the movie.
