Bring the whole family to Kimbriki's Eco House and Garden where kids will dive into the fascinating world of composting and worm farming. This workshop is designed to make learning about sustainability exciting and interactive for children.
Children will enjoy fun crafts and activities that teach them how to turn food scraps into rich soil, all while discovering the important role of worms and garden critters. Parents can relax nearby with a cup of Kimbriki herbal tea in the peaceful garden setting.
This event is perfect for curious young minds eager to explore nature and learn practical ways to reduce food waste at home.
The Composting for Kids workshop covers a variety of engaging topics including:
- The fun of having a worm farm and how to care for it.
- Meeting the compost worms that transform food scraps into soil.
- Becoming a macro invertebrate detective to spot beneficial garden bugs.
- Crafting a clay habitat and garden creature to take home.
- Designing a Compost Recipe sign for your kitchen.
Children should wear closed-in shoes, a hat, and sunscreen for comfort and safety. Parents are required to stay on site for the duration of the workshop.
Feel free to bring vegetable and fruit scraps like banana skins and apple cores to feed the Eco Garden worms.
The workshop takes place at Kimbriki Resource Recovery Centre, located at 1 Kimbriki Road (off Mona Vale Road), Ingleside NSW 2101. The Eco House and Garden provide a beautiful outdoor environment ideal for learning and relaxation.
The venue is accessible by car, with parking available on site. It is recommended to arrive a few minutes early to settle in and enjoy the surroundings.
This event is suitable for children accompanied by parents or guardians who will remain on site. Please ensure children wear appropriate sun protection and closed shoes.
The workshop runs for two hours, providing a relaxed pace that allows kids to fully engage with each activity.
Bringing food scraps is optional but encouraged to enhance the hands-on experience.
