What to Expect

Each session features abridged versions of contemporary titles by popular authors, carefully selected as graded readers to suit varying language levels. Whether you're looking to boost your confidence or simply enjoy a good book, this club provides a friendly space to share your thoughts.
The club meets every Tuesday from 12:00 to 13:00, excluding school holidays, giving you a consistent opportunity to develop your language skills and make new friends.
Activity Details
The ESL Book Club runs in four terms throughout the year: Term 1 (27 January - 31 March), Term 2 (21 April - 30 June), Term 3 (21 July - 22 September), and Term 4 (13 October - 15 December). You only need to register once to attend all sessions until mid-December.
All books are provided, and after registration, you will receive an email with instructions on how to collect your first book. The sessions are designed for adults aged 18 and above, and participants are expected to attend most meetings to get the most benefit.
Please arrive 10 minutes early to ensure the session starts on time, as late arrivals cannot be admitted to maintain a smooth experience for all attendees.

The book club is held at Lionel Bowen Library, located at 669-673 Anzac Parade, Maroubra. The library is committed to accessibility and inclusivity, so if you have any special requirements, please contact the library in advance.
Randwick City Library offers a welcoming space with supportive staff ready to assist you. The venue is easily accessible by public transport and has facilities to ensure a comfortable visit.

This event is free of charge. Bookings are essential and can be made online via Eventbrite. Once registered, you are set to attend weekly sessions until December 15, 2026, excluding school holidays.
