What to Expect
Experience a welcoming and energizing outdoor fitness program tailored specifically for seniors. These sessions encourage gentle exercise using equipment designed for older adults, promoting health and wellbeing in a supportive environment.
The program is led by volunteers known as Senior Champions, who have undergone extensive training to ensure safe and effective guidance. Whether you are new to exercise or looking to maintain your fitness, these sessions offer a friendly space to stay active.
Participants should wear comfortable exercise clothing and footwear, and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. The sessions will be paused during extreme weather conditions such as heavy rain, heat, or strong winds.
Activity Details
- Sessions run weekly on Fridays from 10:15 to 11:15.
- No bookings are required; all seniors are welcome to join at any time.
- The program is part of the ENJOY Impact Research Project, delivered in partnership with the National Ageing Research Institute and Mitchell Shire Council.
- Volunteers provide general advice; for specific health concerns, please consult your general practitioner.
Location and Access
The sessions take place at Chittick Park, located on Pollard Street in Seymour, Victoria. The park features outdoor fitness equipment designed for older people, providing a safe and accessible setting.
Chittick Park is easily reachable by local transport and offers a pleasant outdoor environment to enjoy fresh air and social interaction while exercising.
Parking and amenities are available nearby, making it convenient for participants to attend regularly.
Important Information
Please wear suitable exercise clothing and footwear to ensure comfort and safety during activities. Bringing a water bottle is recommended to stay hydrated throughout the session.
Sessions will not operate during extremely wet, hot, or windy weather to ensure participant safety.
Volunteers provide guidance but do not replace medical advice; participants with health issues should consult their doctor before attending.
Booking and Prices
This program is completely free of charge, with no need to book in advance. Participants can simply turn up on the scheduled Fridays and join the session.
The inclusive nature of the program encourages all seniors in the community to participate and benefit from regular physical activity.
