Dive into a vibrant, hands-on creative experience designed for young people aged 12 to 24. This workshop focuses on transforming everyday protective gear into bold, personalized fashion pieces that blend practicality with street-style flair. Under the guidance of local street artist Joe, founder of SignsbyJoe, participants will explore various customization techniques including stencils, spray paint, freehand drawing, and fabric markers.
Each session encourages experimentation and refinement of ideas, allowing attendees to bring their visual concepts to life. This is a unique opportunity for young creatives to express themselves while learning new artistic skills in a supportive environment.
This is Week 6 of a ten-week series of workshops held every Friday from 16:00 to 18:00. The current session focuses on helmet customization, building on previous weeks that covered canvas design, hi-vis vests, protective gear, and water bottles. The final weeks will include rounds of earlier projects and a showcase event.
Participants will receive hands-on instruction and guidance throughout the creative process, ensuring a rewarding and educational experience. The workshop is free, making it accessible to all interested young people in the community.
The workshop takes place at Hub@Lexo, located at 3-7 Lexington Place, Maroubra NSW 2035. This accessible venue is well connected by public transport and offers a welcoming space for creative activities.
