The workshop will run for one hour and will cover key topics such as balance improvement exercises, strength-building techniques, and home hazard identification. You will also learn about the importance of appropriate footwear and how to make your living space safer.
This session is suitable for adults concerned about falls or those supporting loved ones. It is a community-focused event aimed at promoting health and wellness.
The workshop is presented by health professionals from Sonder, ensuring expert guidance and practical advice.
The event takes place at The Summit Community Centre, located at 4 Crescent Dr, Norton Summit SA 5136. The centre is accessible with disabled parking and facilities including toilets, baby change tables, and a fully equipped kitchen.
Parking is limited, so carpooling is encouraged. Additional parking is available along Crescent Drive and behind Norton Summit CFS, with safe crossing advised.
The centre is inclusive and welcoming to all, including LGBTQI+ community members and those with dementia. It offers wheelchair access and accessible amenities.
The Summit Community Centre operates Monday to Thursday from 9:00 to 15:00 and is closed on Fridays and public holidays. In case of Extreme or Catastrophic Fire Danger Ratings for the Mt Lofty Ranges, the centre will be closed and the workshop cancelled or rescheduled.
Participants should dress comfortably and consider bringing a torch if attending in low light conditions. The venue is well-equipped to support families, including facilities to warm baby bottles and prepare hot drinks.
For safety and comfort, attendees are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear and bring any necessary personal items.
