Step into a creative family holiday workshop designed especially for children aged 5 to 8 and their accompanying adults. Together, you will explore the Art Gallery of New South Wales to discover captivating artworks featuring dogs, paying close attention to their colours, shapes, and personalities.
Inspired by these artworks, you and your child will then create a unique clay sculpture of a dog. Whether it’s your own pet, a hound from the gallery, or a fluffy canine from your imagination, you will learn simple sculpting techniques to shape, mould, and add details that bring your animal to life.
This hands-on workshop encourages collaboration between child and adult, culminating in a finished artwork that you can proudly take home. Please bring a small box to safely transport your sculpture.
The workshop is guided by professional artist educators who will support you throughout the creative process. Sessions run for 1 hour and 30 minutes, providing ample time to explore and create.
Suitable for children aged 5 to 8 years, this workshop is a wonderful opportunity to bond with your child through art while fostering their creativity and observational skills.
Two sessions are available: Tuesday 6 October 2026 and Thursday 8 October 2026, both starting at 10:30 AM and finishing at 12:00 PM.
The workshop takes place at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, located on Art Gallery Road, The Domain, Sydney NSW 2000. Specifically, it is held in the Naala Nura building on the Ground Level, Function Room.
Please note that from 22 June to October 2026, the lift connecting the Naala Nura building Ground Floor with Lower Level 3 will be temporarily out of service due to essential upgrades. Lower Level 3 remains accessible via escalator.

Participants are encouraged to bring a small box to transport their clay sculptures home safely. The workshop is designed for an adult and child to work collaboratively, making it a shared creative experience.
Bookings are essential as spaces are limited. The workshop is led by experienced artist educators who ensure a supportive and engaging environment.
Please be aware of the temporary lift outage in the Naala Nura building and plan your visit accordingly.
Tickets are priced at $35 for members and $45 for non-members per workshop.
