Celebrate the vibrant world of queer literature with the February Pride Book Club, a welcoming space for readers aged 16 and over. Each month, the club explores diverse LGBTQIA+ stories, from fiction and memoir to graphic novels and poetry, fostering open and respectful discussions.
This month’s theme, Queer Classics, invites you to rediscover iconic works by authors such as James Baldwin, Virginia Woolf, and Jeanette Winterson. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with others who share a passion for queer voices and storytelling.
Whether you're a lifelong reader or just beginning your journey, this club offers a supportive environment to share your thoughts and discover new favourites.
The event takes place on the last Thursday of each month, with February’s session scheduled for Thursday, 26 February 2026, from 18:00 to 19:00. Facilitated by Erin Gough, an acclaimed queer author, the club encourages conversations around identity, representation, and the power of storytelling.
Suggested readings from the Georges River Libraries Pride Collection include classics like "The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde and "Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit" by Jeanette Winterson. The club is free to attend and suitable for ages 16 and above.
Bookings are not required, but registering to receive reminders is recommended. Please note, arriving more than 10 minutes late may result in your ticket being allocated to the standby queue.
The Pride Book Club meets at the Clive James Library and Service Centre, located in Kogarah Town Square on Belgrave Street, Kogarah. The venue is accessible and welcoming to all community members.
Georges River Libraries are committed to inclusivity and accessibility. If you have specific support needs, please communicate these when registering or contact the library directly.

The club is facilitated by Erin Gough, whose award-winning work includes young adult novels and short fiction published internationally. Erin brings a wealth of experience and passion to the discussions.
