What to Expect
This welcoming program is designed especially for new parents and carers with little ones aged up to 12 months. Each week, you’ll explore a different engaging topic that supports your parenting journey while connecting with others in a friendly environment.
Expect a mix of interactive sessions including stay and play activities, parent workshops, and book clubs that inspire and educate. It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet other parents, share stories, and learn from guest speakers.
Whether you attend one session or all, you’ll find a supportive community and enriching experiences tailored to your needs as a new parent.
Activity Details
The program runs weekly on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:30 am, starting 11 February and concluding 1 April 2026. Each session focuses on a unique theme such as musical babies, sensory play, baby massage, and reading clubs.
Highlights include:
- Stay and Play sessions to encourage bonding and exploration
- Parent workshops led by experts on topics like baby massage and music
- Book clubs offering curated stories for parents to enjoy and discuss
All activities are free but require booking, with each ticket admitting one parent and one baby.
Location and Access
Sessions take place at Thornlie Library, located at 1 Culross Avenue, Thornlie, WA 6108. The library is conveniently near Thornlie Square Shopping Centre, Leisure World, and Thornlie Primary School, making it easy to combine visits with other errands or activities.
The venue is accessible and family-friendly, providing a comfortable space for parents and their little ones to relax and engage.
Important Information
Please note that all children aged 12 years and under must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for all library programs and events. Booking is essential to secure your place as spaces are limited.
Each free ticket includes admission for one parent and one baby. It’s recommended to book early to avoid disappointment.

The First Chapters program is free of charge, but bookings are required for each session. You can book for one or multiple sessions according to your availability.
