Become part of a rewarding community effort to protect and regenerate Fred Hollows Reserve, a rare rainforest gully in Sydney's Eastern suburbs. This unique natural area features the last open creek line in the region, making it a vital habitat worth preserving. Volunteering here offers a chance to connect with nature and contribute to local environmental sustainability.
What to Expect
Volunteers will work alongside experienced Bushcare Officers to remove invasive weeds and occasionally plant native species in sparse areas. The work is hands-on but manageable, suitable for those who enjoy outdoor activities and want to make a tangible difference. You’ll meet like-minded community members and learn about local ecology and conservation practices.
Activity Details
The bushcare sessions occur every month on the 2nd Wednesday, from 09:00 to 12:00. The program runs until December 9, 2026, providing regular opportunities to engage with the environment and see the positive impact of your efforts over time. No prior experience is necessary, and all tools and guidance are provided.
Location and Access
Meet at the end of Bligh Place, Fred Hollows Reserve, Randwick. The reserve is accessible by local transport and offers a peaceful setting away from the city bustle. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring water and sun protection. Parking options may be limited, so consider carpooling or public transit.
