What to Expect
Immerse yourself in nature and make a real difference by joining the Fred Hollows Reserve Bushcare program. This is a fantastic opportunity for families to connect with the environment while helping preserve a unique rainforest gully in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs. Volunteers work alongside Council Bushcare Officers to remove invasive weeds and plant native species, contributing to the health of the local ecosystem.
The reserve contains the last open creek line in the area, making this bushcare activity not only rewarding but vital for local biodiversity. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or a nature enthusiast, this hands-on experience offers a peaceful yet purposeful way to spend a morning.
Bring your kids along to learn about native plants and wildlife in a beautiful outdoor setting. It’s a wonderful way to encourage environmental stewardship in young minds.
Activity Details
The bushcare sessions run monthly on the second Wednesday from 09:00 to 12:00, continuing until December 9, 2026. Each session involves weeding, planting, and general bush regeneration tasks tailored to the needs of the reserve.
Volunteers will be guided by experienced Bushcare Officers who provide tools, training, and support throughout the activity. No prior experience is necessary, making it accessible for all skill levels.
This program is ideal for parents looking to engage their children in meaningful outdoor activities that promote environmental awareness and community involvement.
