Surrender your illegal fruit tree netting and receive a free new net at Clifton Hill Depot.

Experience a community-focused event aimed at promoting wildlife safety and sustainable gardening practices. The Fruit Net Swap offers a practical solution for families to replace illegal fruit tree netting with legal, wildlife-friendly alternatives.

What to Expect

This event is designed to help you comply with Victorian regulations banning household fruit tree netting with mesh sizes larger than 5mm x 5mm. You can bring your old, illegal netting to swap it for a new, legal net free of charge (limit one per household). The swap helps protect local wildlife from entanglement and injury.

You will have the opportunity to ask questions about netting regulations and learn how to check if your netting is legal by simply testing the mesh size with your finger. This is a family-friendly event focused on sustainability and community care.

Important Information

Please note that only one new net will be provided per household in exchange for illegal netting. Ensure your netting is illegal by checking if a finger fits through the mesh; if it does, it is too large and must be swapped.

This initiative supports local wildlife protection by reducing the risk of animals becoming trapped or injured by large mesh netting. Registrations are mandatory to participate, so be sure to book your preferred time slot.

The event is free of charge. Registration is required to attend, with two available drop-off times at 08:30 and 09:30 on the day of the event. Secure your spot early to guarantee your swap and contribute to a safer environment for local wildlife.
