Step into the Future Now Exhibition and discover how simple everyday changes and bold solutions can create a healthier, safer, fairer, and more affordable future. This interactive showcase from the Australian Museum is designed to inspire all ages with smart ideas for sustainable living.
Explore three captivating displays: Smart Towns, showcasing renewable energy and electric transport; Clever Homes, focusing on eco-friendly building and design; and Caring for Country, which highlights traditional knowledge like cultural burning to protect nature.
Children and adults alike will find plenty to spark their curiosity and encourage community action for a healthier planet.
The exhibition runs daily from 10 February to 16 April 2026 at South Village Shopping Centre, Kirrawee. Special Fun Zone sessions offer hands-on, playful activities for kids and their grown-ups, including explorer card challenges and creative building with Lego or Duplo blocks.
Mini explorers sessions are held on selected dates between 11am and 3pm, led by the Council’s Urban Futures team. Future builders sessions, also from 11am to 3pm, are led by Be The Future educators and coincide with key dates such as the Sustainable Living Fair.
Schools and community groups can book free one-hour educator-led tours for up to 30 people by contacting the Urban Futures team.
The exhibition is located at South Village Shopping Centre, 580 Princes Highway, Kirrawee. Disabled access and parking are available, ensuring a comfortable visit for all families.
This convenient location makes it easy for local families to drop in and explore the exhibition during opening hours.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times during Fun Zone sessions. Council staff may take photos or videos for promotional use; visitors can inform staff if they prefer not to have their images used.
The event is free to attend and suitable for all ages, making it a perfect outing for families interested in sustainability and community engagement.
Admission to the Future Now Exhibition is free. Group tours for schools and community organizations require booking in advance by contacting urbanfutures@ssc.nsw.gov.au or calling (02) 9710 0561.
