What to Expect
Step into the charming urban garden of Janice Canning, a family-friendly space that has evolved over 40 years. This event offers a wonderful opportunity to see diverse garden styles and sustainable practices in action within the Toowoomba bioregion.
You will discover vegetable and herb gardens, indigenous and bush tucker plants, and habitats designed to attract wildlife such as birds, lizards, frogs, butterflies, and bees. The garden also features child-friendly spaces and new frog hotels, making it perfect for families.
Enjoy a light afternoon tea with gluten-free and vegan options provided, while mingling with fellow garden enthusiasts and learning about eco-friendly gardening.
Activity Details
The event begins at 2:00 PM with a welcome and introduction. Janice will share insights about her garden’s development and her commitment to reuse, reduce, recycle, and relax.
Participants are encouraged to bring surplus produce, plants, seeds, books, craft supplies, and other gardening resources to share at the Share Table, fostering a culture of generosity.
Please bring a KeepCup or similar for your drink to help minimize waste, along with a chair, water bottle, sun protection, and suitable clothing and footwear for outdoor conditions.

The garden is located at 20 Aberdeen Street, Rangeville, QLD 4350. Parking is available on the street nearby.
The garden offers some accessibility for wheelchairs, walking frames, and strollers. Children are welcome but must be closely supervised for safety.
This welcoming environment is ideal for families looking to engage with nature and sustainable gardening practices.
Important Information
Bookings are essential to manage attendance and contact tracing. Financial members of Permaculture Toowoomba Inc. attend for free, first-time visitors pay $10, and non-members $20. Children attending with an adult are free but must be booked.
Annual membership is available for $50 per person or $40 for additional adults in the same household, valid through 2026, allowing free access to all events and workshops.
Please note the event promotes sustainability, so bringing reusable items and donations for the Share Table is encouraged.
