Immerse yourself in the captivating world of indigo dyeing, a traditional technique that transforms fabric into stunning blue patterns. This hands-on workshop invites you to explore folding, clamping, and dyeing methods using natural indigo to create unique textile artwork.
Under the expert guidance of Joy Cook, a seasoned hand weaver and dyer with over twenty years of experience, you'll craft your own piece on cotton fabric. This workshop is perfect for those aged 16 and over who want to engage in a creative and relaxing activity.
Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, you'll enjoy a supportive environment with limited participants to ensure personalized assistance.
The workshop runs from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, providing ample time to learn and experiment with various dyeing techniques. You'll need to wear closed-in shoes, long sleeves, and long pants for safety and comfort. Bringing a water bottle is recommended to stay hydrated throughout the day.
Joy Cook, your tutor, is passionate about natural fibers such as silk, cotton, wool, and alpaca. She is a member of the Toowoomba Spinners, Weavers and Dyers Group and regularly demonstrates at Queensland Museum Cobb+Co.
Spectators are welcome to observe the process, making it a great event for families and friends to enjoy together.
